Shri Ashok Bhatt, Hon'ble
Minister of Health & F.W. Government of Gujarat visited Gujarat Ayurved
University on September 17, 2005. In his address Shri Ashok Bhatt said that
Gujarat Ayurved University is a globally known university but we should not
be satisfied as satisfaction may hamper further progress and development.
Our goal should be clear and we should have clear vision for our needs. The
objective should be to promote and propagate ‘Shuddha Ayurveda’ so that we
can give something concrete to the state, nation and the world over. Gujarat
Ayurved University has progressed tremendously and the leadership is
competent and committed, the Minister said. |
Hon'ble Health Minister
Shri Ashok Bhatt addresses the University staff while Shri B.C. Choudhary
(L) &
Prof. Vasuben Trivedi (R) are on the dais. |
|
|
| |
| Quoting the quiz competition-‘Kaun
Banega Karorpati’, the Health Minister said how many people today know that
there is a Gujarat Ayurved University in Jamnagar. Even after the span of so
many years we could not deliver the benefits of our achievements to common man.
We should think seriously and give due importance to social marketing of
University, Shri Bhatt added. |
| |
| Commenting on Ayurvedic education,
Shri Ashok Bhatt said that our education should be of that high order, that our
graduate should feel proud for his identity as Vaidya. It should be the base of
our education system. Shri Bhatt said that Pavitrata (piousness), Karuna (kindness), Manavata (humanity), our devotion and dedication
to Lord Dhanvantari are the basis of teaching for our ancient traditional
system which is for sampurna arogya (holistic health) and linked
with longevity. |
| |
| Shri Ashok Bhatt said that today
Ayurveda has global acceptance. The students should have devotion and should
feel proud towards this ancient Indian wisdom. We should do self assessment to
evaluate whether faith of foreign students in Ayurveda is enhanced after coming
to this University or not? Commenting on pavitrata – the basics of
education, Shri Bhatt said that it is composed of Aradhana, Tapasya and Manomanthan. Teachers should also promote traditional values. Study
should be carried out to identify Nadivaidya in the State of Gujarat and
their knowledge should be utilized under the project –Guru Shishya Parampara for
which Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth is established, Shri Bhatt said. |
| |
| Stressing upon to develop Action
Plan for students, the Hon'ble Health Minister said that the focus should be on
‘No Holiday Mood’. They should be kept engaged by giving them additional work.
Under such project, students can be sent for applied training for Nadipareeksha where knowledge of the persons like Vd. Brihaspatidev Triguna
can be utilized. This university has collection of rare manuscripts and teachers
should study them to impart knowledge to the students. Teachers should also
upgrade their knowledge and should be regular visitor of library to acquaint
them with recent advances. One should have good knowledge of Sanskrit, Hindi
and Gujarati and English too in view of globalization of Ayurveda. Giving due
importance to ‘Research’, the Minister said good piece of work had been done on
AIDS at Jamnagar and Surat but no documentation has been done. He insisted to
publish research data of such result oriented work. |
| |
| Shri Bhatt said that during old
days Vaidyas used to manufacture medicine by their own and that is why they were
getting better results. Standardization of medicinal raw drugs and finished
products is need of the hour. Our strategy should be that we are inferior to
none. Ayurveda should not be the replica of Allopathic system. Hon'ble Minister
quoted the example of Shri Ramdev who has promoted the cause of Yoga, globally
in recent years. |
| |
| Commenting on administration Shri
Ashok Bhatt said that holy practices should be adopted and examination system
should be transparent. One should have Aatmachintan. Care should be
taken while granting affiliation to self finance courses and only those
institutions should be given affiliation who have established Ayurvedic hospital
since more than 10 years. |
| |
| Talking about global herbal market
worth $ 23000 crore, Shri Ashok Bhatt said that Gujarat can contribute
significantly in this direction as we have rich flora and fauna. This University
